About Anyssa
My name is Anyssa Loux, and I have been professionally training dogs for the past nine years. My journey in the animal industry began in 2014 when I started working at a doggy daycare. It was there that I discovered my passion for working with dogs and knew I wanted to continue expanding my knowledge and experience in the field.
In 2016, I adopted my German Shepherd mix, Foxy, who ultimately became the catalyst for my career in dog training. Foxy had a difficult start in life—she was rescued from a breeding raid and was extremely under-socialized in nearly every aspect of life. At the time, I didn’t have the knowledge or experience to fully understand how to help her, but I was determined to give her the best life possible. Working with Foxy sparked my desire to better understand canine behavior and learn how to help dogs overcome their challenges.
In 2017, I began working at a dog training facility in Boise, Idaho, where I quickly fell in love with the industry and with helping both dogs and their owners reach their full potential. Halfway through college, I realized that dog training wasn’t just something I enjoyed—it was my passion and the career I wanted to pursue. I graduated from Boise State University in 2018 with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, which provided me with an even deeper understanding of learning, behavior, and communication.
I was also fortunate enough to attend the prestigious Michael Ellis School for Dog Trainers in California, where I further developed my training skills and expanded my understanding of canine behavior and learning theory. Much of my experience, however, has come from hands-on work—the “school of hard knocks”—working with a wide variety of dogs and learning something new from every dog and client along the way.
My Experience & Specialties
Throughout my career, I have worked with all types of dogs, from puppies and young dogs to reactive and aggressive dogs. If there’s a challenge, chances are I’ve worked with it!

Advanced off-leash obedience
Behavioral challenges and confidence building
I also have experience preparing animals for media work. Three of my five dogs have worked in media for companies like Chewy, Tractor Supply, Academy Sports & Nulo Pet Food, giving me firsthand experience training dogs to perform reliably in different environments, around distractions, cameras, equipment, and unfamiliar people. And it’s not just the dogs—my cat, Whiskey, has also gotten in on the action and has experience doing media work!
My goal is always to help owners better understand their animals while giving them the tools and skills they need to build a successful relationship with their pets.
Life Outside of Training
When I’m not training client dogs, you can usually find me competing with my American Field Labrador, Boss, or my Australian Shepherd, Cash.
Boss and I travel to compete in hunt tests and dock diving events. He recently earned his Master’s Dock Diving title as well as his Junior Hunter title. Cash has titles in dock diving, a Canine Good Citizen (CGC) certification, and an AKC Trick Title.
I love continuing to train and compete with my own dogs because it keeps me learning, growing, and experiencing the same process I ask my clients to go through with their dogs. Whether it’s competition, everyday life, behavioral training, or working in front of a camera, I believe every training experience is an opportunity to learn something new.
Outside of the dog world, I enjoy going to concerts, spending time at the gym, and reading. I love staying active, discovering new music, and making time to unwind with a good book.
At the end of the day, my goal is simple: to help animals and their people communicate better, build confidence, and enjoy life together.
